Hormone Testing & Lab Panels

Comprehensive bloodwork is the foundation of every plan we build. Before any treatment, we test — so your care is guided by your real biology, not assumptions.

Why test-first matters

Symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, low libido, and brain fog can be caused by many different things — and they often overlap. Low testosterone can look like a thyroid problem. A perimenopause symptom can look like stress. Without data, even the most well-meaning treatment is a guess.

That's why we test before we treat. Comprehensive bloodwork tells your clinician what's actually happening, confirms whether treatment is appropriate, and creates a clear baseline. As your plan progresses, follow-up testing shows whether it's working — and guides any adjustments.

We never treat blind. Your labs are reviewed by a licensed clinician, and your plan is built and monitored around your results — the heart of the XCell hormone optimization approach.
What We Look At

What hormone panels generally measure

Your exact panel is tailored to you, but comprehensive testing typically looks at these categories. Your clinician selects the right tests based on your symptoms, sex, age, and goals.

♂️

Testosterone

Key for energy, libido, muscle, and mood in both men and women. Often the starting point for TRT evaluation in men.

♀️

Estrogen & progesterone

Central to the perimenopause and menopause transition and to hormone therapy for women.

🦋

Thyroid markers

Thyroid hormones influence metabolism, energy, weight, and mood — and can mimic other hormone issues.

🩸

Blood & metabolic health

Related labs that give a fuller picture of how your body is functioning and help guide safe treatment.

🔄

Related hormones

Additional markers that affect how hormones behave and how you feel day to day.

📊

Your baseline

Together, these results create a clear starting point so progress can be measured over time.

These are general categories for education. Your provider decides which specific tests are right for you.

Hormone testing FAQ

Why does hormone testing come before treatment?
Testing first means your plan is based on real data rather than guesswork. Many symptoms overlap across hormones and other conditions, so bloodwork helps your clinician find the true cause, confirm whether treatment is appropriate, and establish a baseline to measure progress against.
What do hormone panels measure?
Panels are tailored to you but generally look at categories such as testosterone, estrogen and progesterone, thyroid markers, and related labs that affect how you feel. Your clinician selects the right panel based on your symptoms, sex, age, and goals.
How does a telehealth lab draw work in Colorado?
After your virtual consultation, your clinician orders the appropriate labs and you visit a convenient draw location in Colorado to have your blood collected. Results are reviewed by your provider, who then discusses your plan with you. In-person visits at our Denver office are also available.
Do I need to fast before hormone testing?
It depends on the specific labs ordered. Some hormone tests are best drawn at a certain time of day or under certain conditions. Your clinician will give you clear, simple instructions before your draw so your results are accurate.
What happens after my results come back?
Your provider reviews your results alongside your symptoms and history, then walks you through what they mean. If treatment is appropriate, they build a personalized, physician-supervised plan and schedule follow-up testing to monitor your progress.
